MidwayUSA Foundation recently held its biannual Board of Directors meeting in Marengo, Ohio, during Scholastic Shooting Sports Foundation’s National Championships. Throughout the week, MidwayUSA Foundation’s board members were able to see thousands of young athletes compete at the highest level in all shooting disciplines. This meeting also welcomed a new member to the board. Aaron Mazer, Executive Director and Banker of J.P. Morgan Private Bank, was voted in to serve on the thirteen-member board.
“The time we got to spend at the National Championships was great, talking with the coaches and parents, but the best part of the day was when the children approached us to say ‘thank you’ for all that the MidwayUSA Foundation has done for them,” said Mazer. Currently based in Pennsylvania, Mazer has a strong financial resume that includes years of wealth management, equities trading, investing, lending, and more. And while his expertise will be a great asset to the constituents of MidwayUSA Foundation, which holds approximately $250 million in endowed funds for youth shooting sports, perhaps it is his personal passion for shooting sports that is most exciting.
“It wasn’t until I was in my early 20’s that my friends introduced me to hunting and shooting. I fell in love with it from the first sporting clay course I shot. Since then, my wife, brother and now daughter have all joined me. This is the primary reason I think it is so important to have these youth programs. Getting the exposure at an early age can really help develop and mold our youth to be amazing young men and women,” added Mazer.
The Foundation offers a variety of endowments to allow donors or sponsors to target their donations as they see fit to support youth shooting sports. In addition to over 2,800 youth shooting team endowments and 74 organizational endowments, the Foundation has special purpose programs to enhance its mission, including Coach Training and Range Development endowments. MidwayUSA Foundation is proud of its Board of Directors and the leadership and knowledge the members provide.
